Dr. Theologie Paolo de Petris
Paolo de Petris (Italian and Canadian citizenship) received his Doctor Juris Degree (summa cum Laude) in Law from the Università Statale in Milan.
He won the competitive examination for admittance to the graduate Reserve Cadet-course at the Italian Naval Academy of Livorno where he was promoted first to the rank of Midshipman and then to the rank of Sub-lieutenant.
After having passed the Attorney-at-Law state examination, he entered the free legal profession and held the status of Honorary Judge.
In 1988 he graduated from the Rome Waldensian Faculty of Theology and in 2008 earned a Ph.D at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec with a dissertation entitled The Theodicy of John Calvin in the 159 Sermons on the Book of Job and the Hiddenness of God.
Since 1989 he has been Minister of Word, Sacrament, and Pastoral Care in Italian, English, and German-speaking Presbyterian Churches, first in Montreal (Canada) and later in Milano, Locarno Monti and presently in Bellinzona.
He has been a teacher of Protestant Religion in Liceo von Locarno and Bellinzona.
Presently he is a professor of Dogmatic Theology at Shepherd University in Italy and holds an appointment as professore incaricato at the Faculty of Theology in Lugano.
Paolo de Petris’s work focuses primarily on the Theology of John Calvin and on the problems of Theodicy in the widest context of the Protestant Reformation, and modern Christians theologians.
